Monday, April 22, 2013 Thousands of businesses damaged by Sandy have been turned down by their insurers. Insurers are contending the damage was caused by a flood at a Con Ed substation on E. 14th St. during the superstorm, and that a “business-interruption” insurance policy held by many local eateries and shops doesn’t cover that destruction, Crain’s New York Business reported.
